Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Kassandra and Scott who are planning on getting married next year. They love being outside, doing outdoor activities so we decided to do a shoot in nature. The idea was to capture them naturally in the environment and really show just how happy these guys are to have found each other. They did a great job, and I'm really impressed with Kassandra's high heel skills walking on all that rocky ground!
Fall Portrait Day
Another successful fall portrait day in Connecticut has come and gone. I would like to thank my clients for making it possible, I really appreciate seeing the families and the kids each year. The leaves have begun to change, and it was sunny and crisp outside-the perfect ingredients for our shoot. This year I chose Southford Falls in Southbury, Connecticut. Its a great place for a picnic or hike. Here are some of the pictures from the day--enjoy!
Tips for your own Newborn Shoot
For those who want to try something different with a newborn shoot, your bedroom is a great option. I think its such a nice alternative, showing what really goes on between a mom and her baby. If you want to try something like this in your own home, the key is having natural light available in the room. In the pictures below, there was a large sliding glass door directly to the left of the bed. Having the light flood the space allowed me to capture the moment naturally-with the end result feeling peaceful, quite and calm. Just the way a baby likes it!
Wedding in Plymouth, MA
This weekend we shot an outdoor wedding in Plymouth, MA. The entire event took place at the White Cliffs Country Club, which overlooks the ocean. It was a gorgeous site to shoot at, and the weather was picture perfect-no humidity, blue skies. This vintage-Old Hollywood Glam inspired wedding really was an affair we'll remember!
Mason at the Park
Today I met Mason and his mom at their house and then we headed over to a local park. The last time I saw Mason was 1 year ago and he was just learning how to sit up-boy have things changed. Now he's all about walking around and investigating the scene. Here are some shots of him...loving the color of his hair against the grass,-its fabulous!
Happy Birthday!
My cousin Ingrid just had her baby boy! We went to NYC today to visit her and little Jack O'Brien Heyder at the hospital. Here he is, just 7 hours old:
I did an pregnancy body painting session on Ingrid last month. If you want to see that, just scroll down to my previous entries.
Jack at 6 Months
I went into the city on Wednesday to take some pictures of this adorable little 6 month old, Jack. Here are some shots I absolutely love...
Rocky Neck Wedding
We just got home from shooting an outdoor wedding at the Pavilion at Rocky Neck State Park this past Friday. Molly and Mike planned this relaxed beach affair (complete with lobster rolls and mini pigs in a blanket) beautifully. The Pavilion is such a great spot for a wedding, between the beach, the views and the actual building-its a wedding photographers dream. Here a few shots that stood out to me as I just downloaded everything. More to follow on my website soon!
Bella Cugina
Some shots of my cousin and her BF...
prettiness.
Garden Shoot
Today I met Avery (age 2) in Montclair, NJ at the Van Vleck gardens. Its such a great backdrop for pictures and she was so easy to work with. Here are some goodies from the day.....
Family Portraits on the Beach
I met the Caruso's at Sherwood Island state beach yesterday, located in Westport, CT. The beach was a bit crowed as we started the shoot but by the time we finished it had pretty much totally cleared out. The girls were adorably dressed in little eyelet dresses and then had an outfit change which involved tu-tu bathing suites accessorized with sunglasses. What's more fun than that?!
In Utero Body Painting
I had this idea after talking about normal body painting with a friend of mine. As we were talking I was like... "hmm...wouldn't it be fun to paint a pregnant belly-and then take a picture of it?!"
I used to paint pretty regularly and show/sell my paintings in some galleries in Boston. But with so much picture taking going on, that's sort of slipped to the back burner. It was nice to mix the 2 mediums together to create a totally unique work of art. This was a new experience for both me and my pretty little partner. My "test model" was my cousin who is due in 3 weeks. Perfect canvas. We went through lots of face paint to get this puppy covered though! It was so much fun to do and we were both totally happy with the end result. I think the little boy inside also enjoyed it since he was moving around the whole time.
Anyway, these are some of the shots. I love them. Maybe I'm biased...
Leah and Mike
Tonight I took some pictures of Leah and Mike for their one year anniversary. Here are some of my favorites images...
Colette and Mark's Wedding
Yesterday we shot the wedding of Mark and Colette in Morristown, NJ. The reception was at the Crystal Plaza in Livingston. The weather was gorgeous as were all of the details of the day. I've just finished downloading all of the images and had to put a couple up asap since I love so many of them. Here are a few that stuck out to me--Mark and Colette look absolutely beautiful in all of the pictures, I'm such a lucky photographer!
Lou and Scout
I've been dying to take pictures in a certain spot where I live. I finally convinced my brother and his girlfriend to be my models. Here are a few faves:
Big Hair
So I'm in the midst of re-designing my website with new pictures and stuff...and as I sift through all of my disks of images I came across these beauties. I *convinced* my girlfriends into teasing their hair nice and big and we went off into the North End in Boston to take pictures. Needless to say, people were staring. The ladies were totally not happy with my vision of big hair, which is surprising since the 3 of us are all from Jerz and are known for the love of a big teased hair-do.
Joe's Shoot
This Saturday I had the opportunity to meet an adorable *almost 2 year old* named Joe. He was totally excited to have his picture taken when I showed up, which made my job really easy and lots of fun. We started indoors with some editorial shots, then did an outfit change and headed outside to the yard to play and of course, to capture the great light.
