Today I met up with Mason and his family for his 1 year shoot. The day was perfect, not too cold and not too sunny. We were able to get lots of happy, natural smiles and I'm loving everything I've looked at from our time together.
I can't believe that it was this time last year he was just born and we were scheduling his newborn shoot. Happy birthday!!
I'm so excited to share with you a new product I am offering for 2011. Its' my most affordable flush mount album ever, and I am totally in love with it. The album is 12x12 in size (large and fabulous), images are printed on press quality low luster archival paper with lay flat pages. The standard album has 20 pages, and holds 30 images from your photo shoot. The outside of the book is wrapped in a matte finished metallic print, which has a super smooth feel. This is such a fun way to show off the images from your photo shoot (especially if there are lots of images you love). I also recommend adding this product to your Watch Me Grow package. A book showcasing the year long journey through your baby's first year is a treasure to have.
Today I headed in to NYC for a photo shoot with Jeremy, who turned 8 days old today. We originally planned on doing the shoot in 2 weeks, but this baby boy was just so excited to meet the world- he arrived a few weeks earlier than expected. Last weekend my husband and I headed to Coney Island for a little adventure and picture taking fun. I love heading to this beach in the winter when the boardwalk is relatively desolate. There is a quiet stillness to the amusement rides and boarded up store-fronts that I find intriguing and beautiful. I figured I would share this pretty little 14x14 collage print I created from some of the photographs taken during our outing....enjoy!
Yesterday, I woke up and had the urge to do a shoot with shades of pink against turquoise skies. I was heading to Sparta to visit my family, so I thought I would email my friend who lives in town that is an artist. I knew if I told her my initial inspiration she would come up with something special, and she did. Unfortunately, it was so cold and the snow was covered in a sheet of ice, so we only lasted outside for about 15 minutes. But within that time we laughed and froze and I was able to capture what I envisioned.
Last night I stumbled across a very fun clothing designer, TeenyBunny on Etsy. Her dresses for little girls are vintage inspired and like nothing I've ever seen before. The moment I saw the yellow dress (featured above) I felt the need to share some of her pieces with you. If you are considering booking a shoot this spring or summer, I really think one of these dresses would be amazing in pictures.
The dress (above) would look so sweet against an old white barn in the country --or at the Van Vleck house in the spring running through bright green grass. Even on the beach, with bare feet splashing in the water! If you want to make the dress look more casual, I think a pair of mid-calf black rubber boots would be adorable. The retro-style dresses (above) would work well in a city setting with yellow cabs in the background or on a simple cobblestone street in Hoboken. I'm so happy I found this designer and hopefully one of her dresses will help inspire you for your little ones shoot!

Today I ventured in to Brooklyn for a newborn shoot with beautiful baby girl Shane. She's only a few weeks old and already super alert. The moment I saw her precious little face, I was very excited to photograph her...enjoy the sneak peak!

I just finished up doing a super fun boudoir shoot with a very gorgeous client. The shoot is a surprise Valentines Day gift for her special someone, so I won't post anything in order to keep the surprise intact. But I couldn't help to share with you the fun heart garland I made for a portion of her shoot. It reminds me of something I'd see at Anthropologie, which is my favorite store!
Yesterday's afternoon light was so amazing. It was definitely chilly as the day went on, but my second group of sisters still managed to work it for the camera. I loved the outfits they had on, the colors worked perfectly with our setting. Here's a little view in to the time we spent together....
Winter is my favorite season. I love the contrast of a blue sky against fresh white snow. The long winter shadows from the sun and the silence that the snow creates just make me feel so at peace. Every year I think how fun it would be to do a family photo shoot outside after a snow storm...but unfortunately, no one requests it.
Therefore, I decided to offer a free photoshoot this week. I wanted everyone to be able to visualize how beautiful snow- mixed with fun clothes with lots of color would be.
Lets face it, when you're out in the snow and you are comfortable- you can't help but have fun!
After many requests from clients and friends, I'm very happy to report this year I will be selling fine art prints of the places I hold most dear to my heart. This is super rare, but with all of this snow that has been falling, I really want to take advantage of the beauty surrounding us! I am looking for 2 children that are interested in a photoshoot outside in the snow. Details:

Yesterday I headed down the hill to Hoboken for a photo shoot with baby Andre and his parents. We were a little nervous that we wouldn't get many smiles since we woke him up from a cozy nap...but low and behold, he rocked it out in front of the camera. I'm loving how these shots came out, bright and fresh and filled with love!
This afternoon I met up with Charlie and his mom for his first photoshoot. Charlie is just under 2 weeks old, and is absolutely gorgeous. I am so happy that I brought my new owl hat that I purchased on Etsy, because his mom loves owls (it was totally meant to be!). We had a wonderful time together, and I'm thrilled with how everything turned out. Here's a sneak peak.....

This week I headed to Rhode Island to meet my bff's baby boy, Charlie. Not only is he totally adorable, but he is also such a good baby. We got to know each other yesterday and finished our first meeting with a fabulous photoshoot today. I don't think I've ever met a baby that smiles as much as him- which isn't that big of a surprise since his parents are 2 of the funniest people I know. Here's a little glimpse....
After a very nice break, I am back to work with some updated newborn items for 2011. I found some really fun things on Etsy last month; a pink vintage baby scale, some cute new knitted hats, vintage fabrics and chunky blankets with great texture -plus some beautiful baskets to keep your little ones comfy and cozy. Above are the new goodies, hopefully they will inspire and excite you. My next newborn shoot is this Wednesday...we'll see how it goes!

Above: The moment I saw this on Etsy I fell in love with it. The colors are so vibrant and fun + its just such a unique little hat. Perfect for a 6-9 month old girl-with just a diaper on or a plain onsie. I can't wait to use it!
Above: I couldn't resist buying the owl hat in newborn size as well. I figured the neutral tones would be best for this age so the colors don't overwhelm the tiny body and face of a 2 week old. How cute would this be on a a sleeping baby in my nest?!

It was great to see his parents again, I can't believe it was a little over a month ago that we were doing their maternity shoot. The moment I saw Everett I knew we were going to have a great session, he is a super peaceful and alert baby with a great head of hair! I'm thrilled with the way everything turned out-what a way to end the 2010 shooting year!
